You say flex when I suppose you mean Floating Cutter Bar IJ If it is a 81 you have two sheaves on the drive a large one for fast and other one slow. Only reason not to slow would be adjsutment on rod to hyd spool. The u bolt on the controls may also be loose letting the spool not being fully engaged. On the plugging, is it the header auger or the feeder beaterIJ If it is the auger check for warped auger which is wedging material . If the belt is slipping change the v idler to a flat one and add a bar and pull up on the spring thus wrapping the pulley which now pushes down and this will eliminate slippage. If you are plugging the feeder beater shim it properly. This involves pulling off the sprocket and shimming BEHIND the sprocket. You can add all the springs you want and it will not solve the problem unless it is shimmed behind the sprocket. There used to be a post detailing this proceedure step by step.

Yeah I did mean floating cutter bar. I was in a hurry and wasn't paying attention to what I was typing. It's plugging in the feeder beater. Thanks for the advice

Do you have the hose mod. on the head. If not it might fix your feeding problems.

I would guess it would be the u-bolts as well. Check the drives on the header and the variable speed system. It may also be time for a new belt. You should be able to go faster then 2mph in the beans. Definately a feeding problem. Make sure your reel is just below the heads of the beans and going slightly faster (tipping them in gently) then the combine ground speed. The auger in the header sounds like the problem to me. You can change a sprocket to make it go faster or you can adjust it (closer to the bottom the better usually) and make sure the fingers are timed right, these can get out of timing, since you combine can do corn without a problem I would say it would be in your header. Double check the flighting and make sure those fingers are holding on too long or letting go too soon causing the beans to "bunch up". Make sure it feeds all across the header good. Needs to cut good, reel in nice and evenly, auger them in smooth and feed them to the feeder beater. All of these things taken in consideration (combine feeder beater good shape and timing and not slipping) as well as the beater is not bent or damaged and the cylinder bars are good shape, you should be munching beans a little faster. 3-4mph I would guess. It's better then where you're at now though. Good luck and let us know what's going on.
