Combines F2 retarder bars causing grain damageIJ

No, any grain would be damaged at the closest point of contact which is the top of the threshing grate. Even with the retarder system in (your Rasp concave bars),the clearance is still greater than wide open grate setting. TWl, your cylinder looks real neat. I only wish you had a couple of rows of wide spaced 3_4 or 1" bars in there.

The only time we have had trouble with grain damage from the stationary retarder bar affixed to the separator grate (and reverse bars as a whole) is in high moiture corn. Once tried 2 reverse bars over threshing concave and they cracked quite a bit in that location also.

That's good to hear. We probably cut about 3_4 of our corn as high moisture, but it's all ran through a roller mill anyhow for cattle feed so damage doesn't matter. I was concerned about dryer corn and soybeans. tbran - the 3_4" rasps are on the wish list for next year - at least in the threshing section. Might just cut every other tooth out in separator section to keep costs down. Thanks- Tom langan
