1_4 " play is about right. Have seen many w_ much more and ran fine. Rather have too loose than too tight! late style cranks with knob in the center ran more sloppy than earlier ones. What one needs to be really concerned about is bent walker shafts. This causes the cranks to have different cener to center distances as the crank rotates. This is caused by CHOPPER KNIVES THAT ARE WORN AND CAUSE THE WAlKERS TO PUlG! This twist the shafts unless the walkers are equiped w_ slip cutch. Only broken blocks have been result of twisted cranks. To check for this condition run the combine at idle and watch bearings in the housings of the walker shafts. It they wobble or move the brg in the flange or "breath" as the side walls flex you got the disease. Also watch the shaker shoe. It should go straight back and forth. If it wobbles or one side starts back before the other you have a twisted ecentric shaft (or shoe drive shaft) This is also caused by walker plugging. This will destroy a shoe in short order along with the chaffer and sieve.

small side note we have a machine shop that degrees, plus straighten walker cranks. need both shafts. if anyone remembers first k2-f2 setback plates breaking ,we found one throw 1_8 out of time from factory. always take chain off and should be able to spin walkers by hand or rachet on nut. tight spots flex setback plates.to get cranks degreed must have both. new cranks with locator collar are a lot stronger than cast cranks
