Combines Fan into rad

I smelled something in the cab one day, upon further inspection, the fan was starting to hit the fan shroud. The fan bearing had to be replaced, caught it in time, but it is a real pain to change.

I had the same experience this summer. We have a 2388 combine which had 1250 hours on it when the fan went into the rad. This appears to be a very serious problem that Case needs to address.

Oh,,,yeah it is a problem. So is the 1300$ core for the radiator. The real problem begins when you get the updated bearing and the housing bolt holes are 10mm compared to the earlier 8mm holes. This happened on our 1688 and I'm not sure when the later housing with the larger bolts came stock. I thought maybe I could increase the threaded holes in the block but the newer holes appear to be on a diffrent center. Our local dealer told us just to use the old bolts in the larger housing and not to worry about the slop caused by the increase in hole size. anybody else had this problemIJIJIJ
