I have a Quicken 97 version that I use. It works well for all my financial records. And an Excel spreadsheet for tracking Crop data. The spreadsheet is very adaptable and fairly simple to use. I think software is one of those things that the more simple it is, the more you will use it.

I use EZ-farm. Vertical Solution out of Minot ND sells it. It is set up very good and is easy to use. It is geared just for farming and at the end of the year you can print out the Schedule F for your taxes. The phone number is 1-800-396-3279

The answer- as a lot of answers here- depends on you. I personally do not like Quicken as it does not generate a true 'balance sheet'. Most farmers do not really care, but good accounting does. Quickbooks is OK. The best pure managemant software is Perception Accounting from FMS_Harvest. Fairly expensive in todays market. But spread that over a 5 year period is not bad. It actually will down load from a Agleader yield monitor, keeps tract of crops, inventory, both by crop year. The new EasiCrop and EasiMap from Mapshots is going to integrate with it. Give it a look if that is what you are looking for. I am running a DOS package which I like and have been for 16 years, but starting today you have to go with windows.
