Combines fast pitch helical part numbers

OK James this is how we do it when we install all steep pitch (68" pitch) on thresher side only. We start out at gearbox wall with a 71373494. It will start out where original helical started out and end up just ahead of the third helical extention across feeder (Gleaner called helical wedge kit). This 3rd helical extention becomes 1st helical extention accross feeder. One word of advise on filler across feeder opening is to weld triangle filler iron to cage material (sounds like some guys didn't tighten the counter sunk bolts well enough and maybe even bolts to short). A bad slug, rock or you name it can push very hard on filler piece and break it loose if not secured 100%). I then use a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th 71373494 and start them right where they started with normal pitch. These 3 helicals will dump into the front of seperator grate and will be bolted in to run paralell to 1st helical. Next I install a 71373496 (the shortest steep pitch helical available). I start it right inbetween the spot where original 5th and 6th helical would start. You will be cutting and or removing as much of the existing normal pitch helicals that you need to to allow steep pitch to run as explained. You will need approimately 20 large OD 3_8 flat washers. AGCO P_N 70924356 or if dealership has lawn and garden then ask for 1924356 which is the same but cheaper. If you want to order from us you would be looking at $20 to $50 depending how fast you want it. Hope this all helps.

The helical extention kits of about a year ago were shipped with wrong bolts. As you say we weld them in now. However the new kits have the correct hardware and we are assured they are strong enough. Agco paid for one cage on a new machine where it came out..........
