We have a Maurer. It is just awesome! Things we like: 1) "toggle" steering front wheels which allow for very tight turns, easy backing, and good trailing at high speeds (have run 65+ on interstate) 2) good suspension on rear, heads ride very smoothly and, 3) seems to be perfect angle to take heads on_off. They are a little more money than others, especially the running gear style, but if you have to frequently hook_unhook heads and move them any distance you'll love it. I've seen other brands make the same style of steering and I'm sure they are good also.

Cole Implement, a Gleaner dealer in Media Il makes a single axle trailer that you can back up with ease. It will hold a 30' bean head or an 8-row corn head. Phone number is 309-924-1191.

Cole King Caddy from Cole Implement in Media_Stronghurst Il maybe the best for the money. We just bought a second for our 30' platform. It has 4 of the small tires on two walking tandems in the middle. The hitch and header plate extend both ways to accomodate nearly any head to eliminate that extra 5 feet sticking out back if you put a 20 foot head on it. Pulls like a car trailer. We easily run 40-50mph, though Cole claims you can go 65+, we don't push it. All for about $2100 you pick it up. We won't own anything else, at this point. The 4 wheel wagon haulers are good boat anchors at best. The Cole will allow you to back into tight spots, which you might need with a 30' head.

Ditto on the Maurer.. we just got one and love it.. had an unverferth in past and thought it was the best till we got this Maurer... And yes you can go +65 with 30' head... Suspension on trailer is great.. I had my reservation about the narrow front end but it really doesn't seem to be a problem.... I can send a pic to any one that is interested.. just e-mail me

We had a Maurer that we tried to put a 530 on. We still run the N6 so we need the oil pump drive kit on the left end. We could not sit it on the Maurer because the pump shaft hit the left rear tire. So we traded it right back for a M D out of Humbolt Iowa. That is the one to have. Fifth wheel design and you can adjust the wheels for and aft, support arms for and aft as well as in and out, and the top rail in and out. And the top rail supports can be moved for and aft.
