usually they crack when bent. The new ones are straight and leave more clearance on the sides. The reason they bend is hitting the sides where the throat narrows usually. I personally feel one could run a R62 bar on a R50 on most conditions on the front chain. I have heated and straightend mine (read sledge hammer) then with a torch clipped the ends on the dog bone bars. No problem since.
