I believe a fellow from Kansas has been trying them - give him a call, Jason, who repairs a lot of STS combines and also runs them (620) 549-9943. let us know.

Yes, you can run the serrated wear strips on the feed accelerator. You want the accelerator to pull the crop matte in. With the smooth wear strips you wont get the pull you need if the crop is tough. It won't make much diff. in the sample. We raise about 800 acres of pintos a year. The sts really does the job on edibles. Have a good one.

It is probably a good idea to change to the the smooth feed accelerator plates. I changed mine to the smooth and haven't looked back. I never did run the serated plates in the beans. I even run the smooth plates in wheat, and haven't had any trouble yet. All I change on the feed accelerator is the speed, slow for beans. I also run a slow down kit on my machine. It slows the augers and elevator to help keep damage down. The downside to the slow down kit is the yield monitor won't work because the speed is too low. The only other mod that I have made was to add a belt unloader. Makes a world of difference in the amount of crack and makes clean down between varieties very easy. -brian
