Combines Feeder Beater Plugging On M3

Feeder beater plugging is frequently the result of poor feeding from the sickle. Thats the place I would look at after making sure you are running the correct sprocket on the beater-38T for beans and 44T for corn if I remember correctly. Set your reel to sweep beans off the sickle. That usually means as low and as far back as possible. I am a fan of reel sweeps-5 or 6 staggered on each end depending on the number of reel bats. I use them on my 525 head and wish I knew about them when I had a 315 head. Good luck Tom in MN

Just last night - new l2 - starting in beans. l2 was new to my neighbor late last fall and had before belonged to someone who only ever ran corn. Feeder beater kept plugging. Prior owner had modified the outlet area where the beater and header raddle come together at the top of the throat. He had welded seven guides made of heavy (7 ga) steel wire on a piece of angle and bolted the whole thing into the throat between the beater and raddle. No idea why, but it wouldn't let beans go through the machine. Steve in MN.

Pull out the outside 2 fingers (4). The slip clutch is shimmed but not adding more springs but by removing sprocket and shimming with 71191275 feeder beater shims. You can shim it to the point of non slip but rather break the chain tention...

If your cylinder bars are worn, the soybeans won't be sucked thru and feeder beater can't push crop thru.

Pete They are an option somewhere in the parts book like maybe in the reel section. They mount on 3 reel tines and do exactly as their name implies. They sweep beans off the cutter bar. I will look up the part number for anyone who might be interested. Tom
