Combines Feeder beeter clutch on l slips easilyIJIJ

We were cutting wheat one time with our old A Gleaner and it was plugging the feeder beeter. Grain was dry, and it was a moderate crop. Found that the header auger was in the raised high position for doing swathes, had to lower it, that solved the problem. Good luck!

Thanks tbran, I replaced the shims and the square spacer washer last year but I didn't check the bearing collar that I remember, how many shims can you have, I think I have two in there now. My l will take six springs.

varies, but as I said, shim until the unit will not slip with out springs installed, then remove enough so it will, then install springs. A test would be to install one spring and make sure it still slips by putting a pipe over a finger, then add the rest of the springs.

Also forgot to mention that the fingers should be set to retract fully by the 5 oclock position when viewed from the lH end. Fingers that protrude rearward too long will try to wrap crop and as the cylinder snatches it away this will put tremendous stress on the drive.

Thanks again tbran, we swapped the cylinder bars around and it made a great difference, I have a nice half moon sunburn on my rear veiw area. I will check on the five o'clock position. Is there a rule of thumb for the header augar fingwer positionIJ

about the same, the fingers do not need to try to lift the crop.

Whenever I have this problem on my l2 it is usually because the cylinder speed is too slow. Try increasing your cylinder speed if you already haven't. This will increase capacity of the feeder beater. Cylinder will pull crop away frome beater and into comine more quickly. Hope this helps.

Thanks Boss Man, I have some cracking so I don't know if I can boost her much, If you increase the cylinder gap does that help or hinderIJ The wheat is realy dry and threshes out good, I'm a shade over 1_4 " and shade under 3_8 now. About 5_16"
