I have no experience with a R72 but with my R52 I found it important to make sure the springs on the side of feederhouse that tighten chain are tightened to the right dimension and are not bottomed out. Had the locknut on a spring come loose on one side once that caused the chain to jump. I'd also check to make sure that no bars are bent that would cause uneven tension on chain. Good luck.

Check to see the opening in header between header and feeder is 6" narrower than feeder. That is 3" on both sides. This will prevent straw from getting between chain and sprockets. If draper is not made to narrow up you need to improvise. Same holds true for pickup head. The front or rear chain strippers only for corn are not installed are theyIJ The drum height blocks are installed grain front in front and grain rear in back aren't theyIJ Feed chains are in fast position aren't theyIJ Are the feed slats on rear chain in just as good of condition as the frontIJ I assume it is front chain. Your right about NDDan at Hurtt Equip. Inc. Ray would have more flax around him but I think he would mention the same thing on narrowing the feeder opening. let us know what you find out. Good luck

Use a 5_8" bolt or maybe 3_4". Put the bolt though the chain and nut it from the other side. Roll the belt BY HAND that runs the chain. The bolt head goes upto the sprocket and lets the chain jump back in time. Remove bolt and run it.
