If your talking the earlier rotary style that has three position for top stop and three for bottom then- both upper and bottom chain top stop all the way up and bottom stop on front chain all the way down. All the way down on bottom stop for rear chain also if you have shock kit installed and up on knotch with no shocks. If you have newer rotary with blocks that you turn that are marked grain rear and grain front then we install just like it says. Block would be turned so words are horizontal. No good reason not to have shocks on that style system. Good luck
