What year machine and exactly which belt in what cropIJ We have replaced front right double belt set with a power band belt to prevent stalks from getting inbetween belts and kicking one off.

The machine is a 1981 with a variable speed feeder house. It seems to do it mostly in corn but it will ruin a belt in small grains once in a while. I think what happens is the belt jumps off and then get under the right drive tire and breaks . If you have any other ideas please let me know. Thak You!

Mike, I do the same as Dan stated.We run a powerband belt on the RH side of the feeder house.(AGCO n71174137) Usually it is an idler misalignment problem that will throw the single belts off.Usually one belt jumps off then takes the other with it.I have seen where the feeder house is only running with one belt and it is in the inside groove at the top and the outside groove at the bottom.Again,alignment is crucial and sometimes the idlers have grooves wore in them.Usually by replacing with a powerband belt and some realignment of the idlers will solve your problem. The prior posting has the part number for the short throat N-Series.We also do the same on the long throat N-R Series before they went to the single "C" belt. The AGCO part n71170679 is the belt for long throat combines(82'andup). Hyper Harvest II

I figured it was that belt you were talking about and I'm sure the powerband that Hyper even got you the numbers for will take care of problem. Newer machines with same belt set up even had rubber snubber setup like main drive setups. That allows full torque to say backup corn head without that belt sliping out. Never have I added that or think it is nesessary. Sunflower stalks will cause same problem as you have in corn and we substitute belts on both sides of feeder housing to prevent failure. That is machines without corn head varible drive.
