Combines feeder house shocks

To my knowledge, they just quiet the feeder house down. They are just car shocks that slow down movement both directions. I have had earlier machines without and I like what they do. I don't see how they could help stop plugging. If you are having probs. plugging the feeder house, there are other things that need to be looked into.

The shocks prevent drum 'bounce'. If on the downward travel the drum meets a slug clutch slippage usually occurs. Also when installing the shocks the blocks are left in max travel position so as to afford the widest opening thus the most capacity. They are 60_40 shocks best I can tell. They raise up or extend just a little easier than retract although this is just a guess. Havn't checked the specs. The Gleaner kit is very reasonable. I modified a set to install on a few R50's. There are after market kits for the R50's as well now. A 'must have' upgrade. (it made the machine operation quieter and even if it didn't do anything else that is worth the price)
