I put aheader reverser on my M2. Start by making a cardboard pattern to see where you canget 1_2" bolts to hold 1_2" plate to side of combine (cut out to miss cyl. height guage etc.) To this plate I welded a 3" pipe ends squared in lathe approx. 101_2" long (braced 3 ways ) to allow another 1.2" plate welded to other end to get out past header drive pulleyandring gear. This lenght depends on starterandring gear used to clear header drive pulley.Use as big a ring as you can find with teeth to fit starter. Ringgear is bolted to a 1_4" plate hub fastened to shaft with the bolts that hold the splined trumpet header drive shaft. May have tomake a spacer to move r. g. away from pulley.Another 1_2"plate bored to a tight fit for starter is bolted to pipe end plate (slotted holes and shims to align starter with ring gear).I used a Ford corbra race car engine starter. It has a short nose to clear header drive pulley.IT is available beefed up for this job from Kitt,s Auto Electric 5Woods ST. Chatham Ontario Canada N7l 3P9 519 351 6479 . Useheavy welding cable from battery to starter.Momentary contact switch in cab.Add a guard to protect wheel mud.Allow head to stop befor reversing. Use only seconds at atime to prevent starter over heating.
