Combines Feederhouse chainIJ

last summer we broke the feeder chain in our 9650 walker and it bunched up. We replaced it with a heavy duty loewen chain and I am very pleased with it. I also see that loewen offers wood block kits for straw walkers. Next time I have to replace those stupid bearings I'm going to switch it over to blocks like we had back in the old days.

Boy, you are sure right on those stupid aluminum walker bearings. That's one reason I'm getting an STS combine. We never had any trouble with those wood blocks, but on a 9600 was changing them about every 400 hours. Wish I would have known about loewen sooner.

We ran 9600's and 10's up till the STS and got way more than 400 out of them kiki we just poured the greese to them and always watched the wear plates and checked them for the amount of "play" they had in them.

I have always gotten 1800hrs out of a feeder chain without any problems. Put new sprockets on top shaft at 1200hrs. Thats been on any JD we've had!

We were talking about straw walker bearings.

Same goes for walker bearings never replaced one, sure hate greasing every day though!

We had walkers running over 2000 hours without replacing bearings. Just keep them greased every day. One might wear a crankshaft through.

We put new feed chains in our walker machines last spring and I was surprised how little they stretched over the year. I heard that JD had made changes and I can see it. They will run another year (600-700 hours per year).

I wish i could get 500hrs out of a set of walker bearings and i grease before i start and late in the afternoon if were going to run late into the night.

Had over 3500 sep hrs on a 9500, greased twice a day...no replacement. Now a 9550, same procedure, twice a day, hopefully the same luck
