We bought all our NH3 right before the first of the year for 290 a ton. The dealer called us a 8 that morning to tell us that there was not going to be a lot of fertilizer availible, by noon they were completely sold out. From what I heard that if you did not prebuy you might not even get any NH3. The cost of this fertilizer is going to be the final blow for some of the smaller producers around here.

Your nuts!! Canada is just full of natural gas wells and as everyone knows the anhydrous is a byproduct of natural gas. In canada the price is well below 400 a ton but the reason they are not shipping to the u.s. is because the brokers are taking such a commission off of it it's not feasible to bring into the states........So instead, we have it shipped in from Russia and China......More politics in play and don't kid yourself on that one. Why are we bringing it in from Russia and China when the US Gulf Coast is full of natural gas wellsIJ

The problem is that we have shut down 3_4 of our natural gas wells in this country. I don't know whyIJ Probably it is the "big money" dictatiing what the prices are once again. Why import when we have it here at homeIJ I don't know the answer.

we're watching NAFTA at work here. coupled with our desire to burn a clean fuel for electric power generation. ah for the warmth of coal and glow of radiation once again. but your right we are awash with natural gas but when just a few companies control its production and transportation this is what you get. how can you have free trade with only two or three multinationals doing the tradingIJ same can be said for our grain markets. hey, everybody got their combines ready for the next harvestIJ

I am all for building more nuke plants. We have one just a few miles from here and it has been putting out good clean energy for many years. I can't say the same for the coal fired plants though. We have a couple of co-generation plants that went up back in the late 80s about 15 miles from my farm, and they claim they are burning low sulfer coal and have scrubbers on the stacks and all of that, but no sooner than they fired those things up, every galvanized roof on my farm started rusting. I complined to the Butler guy and they came down and looked at the roof of my shop, and the grain bins, and he said that my farm was the first place that they ever had problems with any of their galvanized roofing rusting in less than 20 years. I just put up a mew Morton machine shed, and it has a galvanized roof that is supposed to be coated with some special paint will keep it from rusting and has a warranty against rust. I bet they will have to replace it before the warranty runs out.

Deerbines........ WHere the heck can you find nitrogen for under $400 a ton for granularIJ You can't find hardly NH3 anymore and the liquid price is through the roof and you are gaurantted to run out in the spring of that stuff.
