You will have absolutely no problems with a 1680 even if it doesnt have the specialty rotor. As far as what to expect there will be absolutley no comparison to your 7720. If you had a 8820 it may be a different story. The axial flow is one great machine you would be very satisfied. thanks. If i buy a 1680 with a special rotor will have to make any major changes to it for corn. and will the 1680 do better than lets say a 9500 in seed loss comparisons. How many acres can i harvest in a days run.

little al, you would have to make no major changes from beans to corn, just fan speed and concave setting and sieve setting and rotor speed, depending on conditions and size of cornhead. Make sure 1680 has aleast 4 and upto 8 seperator bars on rear of rotor or will have alot of rotor loss in corn. Amount done in a day has alot of variables, size of head, unloading on the go, drieness of corn. But you would like the quietness and simplisity compared to a 7720

from my experience there's no comparison between 1680 and 9500 in grain loss. Of course, maybe the guy running the 9500 could have set it better. lots of grindings coming out back of 9500. None on 1680.

little Al, Had a JD 6620 and switch to a 1660 Axial Flow. I'm glad I did as the 6620 doesn't compare to the 1660. Easier to run, set up and mantain. Just my thoughts.

you guys are making this decision easy for me. As i learn more about rotor machines i'll be asking more questions some are dumb to you but i need to know . like should i buy one with long screens or does this matter. cummins engine or i.h.. More than likly i'll run a 6 row corn head on 38" rows.thanks again!!!!

I would deffinatly reccomend the long sieve and by doing that Im pretty certain you will end up with the 8.3litre cummins. They are a very simple machine to set and maintain. You will be happy with it. For the amount of acres you have a 1660 wouldnt be out of the question either. It would probably allow you to get a little newer machine if you did go that route. Just my thoughts....

thanks, now that you mention there is a 1660 that has been through the shop and is field ready but it is around 26,000 is that to much it has around 2,000 hrs. my feeling is that is to much. how about a 1668 for the same as a 1680.

little al, I would agree with Big B if the 1688 is decent would be one to get. But if 1660 you brought up is a late model not bad either. Everyone gets so concerned with 2000 hrs. there is probably 1800 on seperator, you have to look at the machine. You and I both know some guys could make a 500hr machine look like a 3000hr machine and vise-a-versa
