generally, the 500 is a series 3 '300' with the cutterbar distance to auger shortened and short divider points. It had a 1 piece feather sheet. The 800 has 7" huge auger flighting and the bar is moved back out a bit to accomodate the larger diameter of the auger_flighting. There are early model 800's and large throat late model 800's that accomodate lat tilts . conv's. etc. Bunch of other subtle diffs as well.
