Which throat do you haveIJ The early model Ns are very limited as to what you can use. The later Ns used the same throat as the R5_6_7 and will pick up and use an 800 series with little changes. The later throat has different hooks and connections and is longer than the early Ns. My 82 N6 S3 came with the later_longer throat and can use the 300-800 series heads. Hope this helps!

My N6 is a 1981 model so I guess it has the older style feeder house.

You might think about getting a salvaged late N or R throat so that you are good for the newer heads. The belt on the newer throat is apx 10" longer than the one that is probably on your N6. I found that I had the newer throat when I needed the belt and ordered the one for my serial n. Dealer said that my machine was where the newer_longer throat were just starting in production but not commonly used yet. Parts book hadn't caught up with production line usage. Good luck!

We have a used 530 with home made trailer and we have the old style hookup as well. We had it on an 81 N6 as well. You would need the reel pump drive and the reel speed gear and sender from your old head to make it work for you.
