Combines Flex head on TX66

The connectors should be 3 wire each. One is the normal auto header hight switches connection and the other is the terrain tracer connector. The normal auto hight connector should have 2 pins and 1 socket on the grainhead wire harness. It should use a Purple_yellow stripe to provide 12 volt to both switches(raise and lower),a white_orange wire for the raise, and a white_light blue wire for the lower switch. The terrain tracer has 2 sockets and 1 pin. I'm not familiar with the TX electrical system so I don't know what type of header connector they had. Cutting soybeans with CR combines everyone is using the header electric controls not the pressure compenation header control. If you can find the electrical connector for the TX on the combine I would think you could get the 2 attached. Unless the TX required potentiometers like the CR_CX now use on the heads.

There aren't any electrical connections on my TX66 with the exception of a round 3-wire connector on the left hand side. Of course, there isn't a connector like this on the 973. Still baffled.

I got to looking at a sales brocure for the TX 66_68. From what I can tell it is not made to use any ground contact sensors. You either have to use "pressure compensation" or install ultrasonic sensors on each side of the head for "autofloat" to work. I would bet the round connector you say is on the feederhouse is for ultrasonic sensors.

There is a cable available and most parts people have trouble tracking it down but if you want to try the Markusson New Holland web site at www.markusson.com they are Tx experts and can find it for you.I use mine on manual all the time just because I have more control.

Try wire harness partn 9862123 and have your dealer parts guy print you a copy of Service Bulletin 1995_12-H1 It can be printed right off of their parts computer.

I phoned Markusson yesterday, Spoke to Gary in service. He advised me to run the unit on pressure compensation at about 90lbs. He said that he couldn't get the TX's to run properly all day with a flex on. Too erratic. Where are you from CowboyIJ I reside in Estevan.

Our 96 model had a problem with the contact mode when it was new and they could not fix it for a couple years. The head would be very difficult to set up to work properly. Often I would run it in the compensation mode. This caused some extra wear on the skid plates so we put the plastic on them when they started to get holes in them. They changed the eprom chip and that did not help. The switches were adjusted many times which would make it work differently but not really any noticeable overall improvement. They changed the chip again which didn't help. They put a third different version chip in and disabled one of the lift sensor switches (not the tilt) and welded the left and right lift actuator bars together in the middle of the head. It seemed the computer was only supposed to be hooked up to one lift switch and the 2 tilt switches. When it was hooked up to the 2 lift switches it was getting conflicting signals sometimes. I think the head it was originally meant for was some European head that did not quite work the same as the North American flex head. It was 1999 or 2000 by the time they got it to work properly.

We escaped the major frost on Friday morning but not too far from here it went to -3 c. The flax is no longer flowering there. Getting close to harvesting yet. We could probably do peas on Friday if I desicate tonight but calling for rain most of the week. Not sure what to do. Have a buddy at Avonlea_Wilcox that figures he lost 4000 acres of lentils to the frost. The plants were white at 8:00 am. The lower pods had the seeds froze to the side of the pods. He figures lentils will hit .25 for n1 this year. Imagine what seed prices will be in the spring. Good luck with harvest and thanks for the help.
