If he is trying to cut closer he needs to adjust his skid plates not his cutter bar . I have sch cutter bar , with skid plates adjusted right it will shave the ground.

I did mine three years ago because when I tipped my cuutterbar down I found the head picked too many stones. Reverseing the guards allowed me to cut closer with a flatter knife. If I do pick a stone it sits on the ledge the reversed knives have created. I use air reels which allows you to keep your reels up higher. You have to make a spacer at the wobble drive if you are going to do this mod. Best of luck. Dave

I ran mine upside down for one year but ended up changing them back to normal because I found in uneven fields I was always picking up too much dirt. It worked fine in level packed fields but I do a lot of custom work and field conditions vary a lot.
