Our auger on our M2 has a stop welded on it also, and I think the M did too. Our auger has an after market tube and flighting that is a foot longer than the original equipment but it looks and seems to work fine. Then again I haven't had it loaded yet. Curt

On the M,l series hydraulics are open center, and the auger swing is secondary to the power steering. Watch the auger in your left mirror, as it nears the cradle, pull the steering wheel. This will slow the desent, if you're standing still, you can actually stop the auger at any point. Now you can get a feel for how to ease it down gently. A neighbor had his auger lock at mid-swing, so I built an "A" brace from the uper corners of our(1977 M2) hopper to a point 3 feet back from the discharge.I rolled the auger out when I got to the field, set the brace, left it out all day, unlocked, rolled it at the end of the day. We had that M2 from '82 'til '99. We unloaded corn on-the-go for the last 10 of those years (800 acres).
