Another possibility - what about equipping the rotor bars in the threshing section with some sort of a "scoop" on the underside to create a vaccuum that would suck the dust through the machineIJIJ I'm thinking that this might create a giant version of the transverse flow fan. Just an idea to chew on.... Tom langan

If you could get the vacuum it would be a great idea. My experience with venturis however have always been that they are hard to get right. I seriously doubt that merely inserting a tube in the air stream will give you the vacuum you need. Perhaps a better choice would be a manifold placed somewhere in the middle of the input side of the fan. I know you could get the vacuum you need there, but you would have to be careful not to pull too much. If you started pulling leaves and straw it would probably end up beneath the sieves. Ouch! dirty sample. Ed in MT

Well, I typed this out once and it seemed to have disappeared to forgive me if this shows up again! Would my previous idea of scoops on the rotor bars act in reverse and actually pump air DOWN the feederhouseIJ What if you rig up "fan blades" somehow on the spiders in the rotor to pull air through from right to left that would suck dust through the machine from the feederhouseIJ Tom langan
