TO: TBRAN You are right on. Although most don't believe this, crop condition dictates the best quality, I have found 19% corn to crack the least, which of course will vary. A concave that is not level will crack corn and beans more than anything else. I don't know why but it does. Other than this the greatest damage to kernels in corn is from the corn head to the feed chain on a rotary combine. A smooth transition from the corn head to the feed chains (hopper riser bottom} is the best way to reduce damage. Dealers were informed in a school book how to reduce damage in food grade corn.
