Combines Fooling your combine

Could the rear wheel drive option off the hydro system be adapted and utilised to drive the hydraulics of the draperIJ Reel and belts are hydraulicly driven. A hydro motor for the knife drive should be easy to set up if it is not already there. Just a suggestion as I have not had a close look at the draper drives and the possibilities. Cheers!

You have got the reel drive from combine to power some thing and also the feeder reverser hydro system as well. Other wise you could take off the main drum belt and feeder belt on right hand side as well as accell roller belt and just run it like it was on the combine!! I reckon it would be less than half an hour to do all that with air gun to take the right belts off to run the front from left hand side drive!! Rolf

Further suggestion after Rolf and I chewed this over this afternoon; Try adapting the front elevator hydraulic reverser circuit or even use the reverser motor to drive the hydraulic pump down on the draper header if fitted. Revs and flow rates will need to be checked to see if this can be done.

Thanks for the suggestions, Do you think there would be any way to connect the electrical circuit on the seperator clutch into thinking it was turned onIJ But then the warning lights would go on everytime you turned on. Thanks Kurt

Why not run a jumper wire to the clutch with a switch in the cab that way the rest of the combine doesn't know that the clutch was ingaged and then remove the main drive belts that run the rest of the machine. It's been to long since I was around a 72 so I cann't remember if there is a belt or chain to remove to stop the feeder house. That is onething I would not like running empty.
