Combines FPS Observations A85 and others

the A-85 looks taller than it is. I sighted across the top of the R-75's bin next to it and unless the ground was unlevel they were the same height.

What day were you thereIJ I went on wednesday and it was realy muddy in the morning but had settled up pretty good by late afternoon. I thought the A 85 was doing a really good job in the wet corn they were shelling. Once again I thought Agcos display was as good as any there, lots of helpful people to answer questions and plenty of new equipment to look at.

Hi Tom. I gather from a couple of postings here that the new A85 unload auger, when extended, is a nearly straight line auger through to the bottom right hand side of the bin with a bin bottom auger feeding it from the left to the right hand side. If this is the case, Rolf suggested this identical unload auger system a couple of years ago on this site. Rolf and I have often talked about an identical unload auger system as described. Unfortunately we can't find the original posting as it seems to be amongst a whole group of postings that Marvin has lost when he had some problems with the server. Maybe a couple of AGCO engineers do read the postings on this site after all!

That is exactly how it works. I guess I don't remember the discussion you are talking about, but you will be pleased to know that another of your ideas also has been used as the 35 ft header they had on the A85 had a flywheel on the sickle drive. We may as well just call these the "Hedt Series"!

We were there on Wed. Never made it out to the field demos as we were pressed for time. Only seen the major equipment displays - a few hours at the most and we had to get going.

May be the AGCO engineers do listen at times! The flex head lH end skid plates are now a heavier material with a reinforcing rib on it which strangely enough is almost identical to the photo Rolf has of ours in Hyper Mods as is the reinforced and boxed stabiliser now on the new flex heads. The real advances though come from Dan Hurtt [ NDDan ] and Dan's very, very innovative ideas and his willingness to try completely new ideas and Tim Bran's [ tbran ] encyclopedic knowledge on the Gleaner maintenance issues and their fixes, not forgetting tbran's wacky sense of humour which has given all of us a real good laugh on numerous occassions. Sometimes it seems that combine engineers are very much taken with their own expert skills and seem to regard all those uneducated peasants out there as dim wits who don't know nothing but there are a few who obviously are prepared to listen and accept new ideas form outside and to try and improve their products from the users point of view. I think I will just go and find a hole somewhere and hide in it for a while! Cheers. Max Hedt [ R.O.M ]

Thanks Max. It's mind boggling how many machines are out there that are just waiting to have their potential released. Sorry to hear about the crock hunter Steve. I would of bet big money that it would of been a snake that dealt him a fatal blow. It was allways hard to change the channel when I seen he was on. Good thing for re-runs. All the best.

Yes, ditto, you know if we could get as excited about things in life as he did his passion for wildlife, well on second thought I would be exhausted all the time.
