Combines free stuff

If someone gave me something,I wouldn't sell it. So far though, nobody has offered me that kind of a deal. People in the south must be more generous than people up here in cold country!

What if you didn't need itIJ Or what if you would only use it a little but could sell it and get something you really neededIJ I think there are a lot more realistic problems out there for farmers to deal with than getting free stuff. My 2cents.

Seems to me first ask the person if they want it back since you don't need it and if they say no then it is okay to sell it.

Just looking at the guy who was given a 6030. Now thats a big enough tractor to farm with. But he sold it. A guy gave me a Moline tractor and I put it inside the shop to begin working on it. A couple weeks later he saw me and asked if I had sold it. I told him that since he had given it to me that I would keep it. Its got a lot of family history in that tractor and he knew that so I guess thats why he gave it to me. I know about the economic situation so Kidroff it looks to me like anything for free sure beats paying for it. I was given a 19' Amco disk not too long ago. Its not the best but it fits the horsepower of the free tractor just right. Can't beat that, a tractor and disk for a total out of pocket cost of almost nothing. Not everybody can have the newest Deeres to farm with. But I can fix my tractors whereas a dealer fixes the newer ones. You know what they charge an hour for shop labor.

I tell you guys what. I pride myself in keeping my farm's equipment out of dealers shops. I enjoy the challenge of finding a problem and then dealing with that problem. Recently a neighbor gave me a six row "Do-All". It had been sitting in weeds for nearly 10 years. I have torn it down and now I am starting to put it back together with new bearing, bolts, harrow teeth, and hoses. Plans are even to paint the thing in the process. So if any of you have surplus equipment that you can not find a use for, let old "TSTAR" know. I will fix, use it, and yes I will keep it. I have a couple of young sons that one day I hope to be able to work with them just like my father has with me. Maybe they will turn out to be "Good Citizens" if nothing else. Working sisde by side with a boy is the best way to get to know who he is and what he is being challenged with out there in the world. Some how guys that are able to do that type of interacting with his kids have fewer problem.
