Combines freeze

Now to just get the traders to figure that out. I am sorry so many growers will have to be hurt. It seems we all take turns at getting beat up. I just hope the crop insurance companies stand up to their end of the deal.

TBran, how cold did ya'll get up thereIJ Ours only got down to maybe 28 or so for 2 or 3 nights but it still damaged the wheat a bit. Hard to say how much and no one is really wanting to come out and say a % damaged yet anyway. I don't think we are at 80% though it was just starting to head so its still too early to tell. I did hear one day last week that Gore wants to start calling it "global climate change" instead of just global warming. Everyone with freeze damage is about to ring his neck as it is. He's not too popular over here in Arkansas either. Neither was Clinton. I still haven't figured out just who it was that voted for him as governor and then president. Sure wasn't anyone I knew.

Smart move from Gore, re "Global Climate Change"! If the "global warming" actually turns out to be "global cooling" he has covered his a..e! He is your typical very slippery politician, don't forget.

For once I'm glad it's been too cold and wet to get in the cornfields here. I don't even have all the oats in yet.

Yep tbran! Very few Aussies would have ever heard of him and probably still haven't, as he is obviously all yours! I hadn't heard of him either until the proverbial hit the fan! We have our own assorted selection of unsavory shock jocks down here who, under their own steam and without any help, regularly land themselves in deep s**t. Usually leaves the media bosses covered with that brownish colour as well! After all they encourage it. More profit that way. [ to be sarcastic.]

when young ladies cover themselves with tatoo's, knowing all the time they will be seen by millions, then have to have them covered up by the authorities with arm bands to be broadcast on TV, then have the refs caution them as to slam talk using profanity likewise, they - in my upbringing - are opening themselves up comments such as happened. The 'victims' are not innocent, even though the 'nappy headed hoe' was across the line.

Every nation has that problem, Tim. We put so called "sports people", actors and etc, a misnomer in many cases, up on pedestals where they then come to believe they are untouchable and often can get away with anything for a time. When they fall, are pushed or just dragged down while screaming the whole way, off that pedestal they just don't understand why. Our media always reports on and encourages the extremes, whether good or bad in our societies. So you in America have a very different idea about Australia than actually exists and we, for our part like the rest of the world, usually have a very distorted view of America. The more perceptive amongst us know that in the real America and real Australia, as with other nations, are very different to their media image when you get to know the 90% of the real people who are the ones that the media never report on. They are just too boring to make hysterical headlines but they ARE the nation, not the flashy mob who are in the news all the time. We, ourselves are also to blame as we have been conditioned to look for and get a kick from the discomfiture of somebody else in those same hysterical headlines. Down here we often get the sense that we are somewhat more tolerant of and have less extremes than you do in the USA but again that is what we see and hear from your media. Your perceptions of OZ are also shaped by the media and are probably much different to reality. NDDan and Ohio Farm Boy [ another Tom ] would probably have a much better idea about Australia now, at least from an American's viewpoint, after visiting OZ so why don't a few more of you guys come on down for a look. NDDan and Ohio Farm Boy will probably be able to give you quite a few tips on what and what not to do. See you some time. Cheers!
