Combines From a l2 to a N5 is it worth it

I would say you would be alright to switch because the hill capacity on the l2 is a weak point even though they are great machines. The only caution i have is that they break down a lot in my opinion and are typically not as reasonable to work on. When they are running they are very good machines!

We went from an l2 to a N6 in the early 80's. I wanted to get one of the last l3's coming off the line but the dealer suckered me into Gleaners worst combine ever. Depending on your $ situation I would look for a good used l3(not an easy find) or a decent early R52(fairly common to find in the 35-45K range). I would stay away from an N5 at all costs.

Irv, I do recall talking with you about your R5 earlier this year.My problem would be ,I would like to trade off my l2 setup on something else. Some local dealers have listed '83 N6 w_6rw and 318 flex for 12,500 pkg. and another '84 N5 2100 hrs., rebuilt for 12,500.I think you may have wanted more then I could pay without being able to trade in what I have. Thanks for keeping me in mind.
