Ummm, this might be a really dumb question, but why would you want to do thisIJ

yes i would like to be able to unplug it. before I changed the rotor over to the St.Johns style, I had no real problems with plugging the front beater. Now with the extra capacity the front beater is the limiting factor, so it is the first thing to plug.

Maybe you can put a beater in it out of the newer 9000 series combine. I hear that they never plug.

Well, never say never! I haven't plugged mine in the 2 years we've had the 9790. Only plugged the 8780 once. We had a 9750STS and the feed accelerator plugging a few times a week, sometimes a few times a day is one of the main reasons its no longer in the family!

In six seasons with an 8780 and 8780xp, I've never plugged the beater. What situations are causing the beater to plugIJ Bunching green beans or slugging wheat somehowIJ Just curious.

The only time I've plugged the 8780's beater was in milo with a lot of johnson grass in it. It was damp and we just started too early that morning. It basically plugged within 10 foot of where I started cutting. It was easy to unplug though. It had been updated to the new style beater if that matters...I don't know if the old style would be harder or easier to unplug.

My 8570 has the new style beater(from 9000) had one installed when I changed rotors. We have to keep the beater belt much tighter than we did with the old beater. The rotor used to be the limiting factor for capacity, now it is the beater. I think it would be much nicer to unplug from the cab.......Neil t
