Combines front feeder chain drumIJ

I changed the drum on my N6last year and had to cut big holes in it to burn the bearings apart!!! That was not a problem as we were changing the whole drum as it was damaged by rocks etc. You may need to do same except cut neat holes that can be patched. Otherwise I guess you need large hammers, lots of hardwood blocks to save the shaft and lots of penetrant.

Thanks Aussie, I got it - big hammer and drift. Those are fairly substantial bearings, if the rear feeder drum rolls nicely I may forgo changing them. looks like the right wheel has to come off to get that shaft out.

Try soak up area next to bearing and bump back and forth some. Don't often find bearings froze to hex shaft but there is always that chance. It is so seldom we lose them bearings so we leave them if it sounds smooth and quite. I tried fliping sprockets many years ago to find it not to work. Chain will not fit sprockets well for the diameter at bottom of teeth will be wore causeing a bad fit up of chain roller links to teeth. That diameter is as important as the worn tooth that is easier to see.
