True. Some of the older fuel systems that use fuel to lubricate the inj. pump will see additional wear because of the low lubricity of dryer(low sulfur)fuel. We're using a 2%soy diesel for that reason. Have had no problems running it in all our engines year round.

weve done 5 fuel pumps in the last couple years due to low lubrication in the fuel(cummins nta 855 pt injection system including a n14 manual pump, rosomaster pump, american bosch and a cat fuel pump) we now use kleen-flo diesel fuel lubricant.. 1 gal for 1000 imperial gal. only a couple bucks a gallon and well worth it. The other option is optimal 2 stroke oil... and a quart to a 1000 gal. but is more expensive.

used good cleen old sump oil in the 70s 80s in a 1673 pre combustion head cat can't see why you could not use sump oil in todays engines at say 1 or 2 gal to 1000 gal all you are looking for is a bit of slip on shiny expesive parts just thinking ----- have a good one

I am using Diesel Plus in my tractors and my '02 F-350 pickup. In addition to the added lubrication, I saw 1.5mpg increase in fuel mileage in the summer and about .5mpg increase in the winter using the summer rate because it rarely gets cold enough to need the winter rate to prevent gelling of road fuel where I live. I buy it in gallon jugs and it costs less than $0.03_gal of fuel treated. The winter rate is double the summer rate and lowers the gelling point by 20 degrees. Engines and injection pumps are expensive enough to repair that this is cheap insurance.
