Combines fuel solenoid on Deutz R 40 52 FIP

Thanks for you comments on the solenoid valve. We never figured on the solenoid failure, but knew the engine was slower starting than it had been. One day just out of frustration, we put a meter on the solenoid and found an open coil. Next day we had a new solenoid and the first start after the change proved that little unit was the cause. I think we started wonder about the coil because there was no black smoke when it first fired on a warm motor. I said fuel boost, but believe it only overrides the aneroid stop for low turbo boost. This year we solved another slow start problem. We figured the starter was going west, but it turned out to be a bad connector. The cable to the second battery was open at the connector on the first battery. It looked good but wouldn't pass current.

going to a different geographical location is a common phenomenon. We in the South say 'things went north on us', in the N. they go south - in the middle to east they go west. In Washington they do not know which way to go. This is the first degree. When things get more serious they go to different levels of nouns that are non terrestrial. Such as things went to he((, to s... and so forth; I have personally seen things going to the bad place in a handbasket. Most people know what a handbasket is even though I have never actually ever seen one myself, although I picture it to be rather large. The third degree is verticle. Such as fouled up and other words people use that start with the letter f followed again by up. I try to watch what I say even though I falter sometimes. I often refer to "being reproductivally engaged in the verticle position" in lieu of the naughty phrase f upd. I try to be urineally challenged rather than po'd - upwardly spiraling rather than screwd up, etc. We also find somethings to be FUSTAB'd thats Fouled Up Something That's Already Broke. Finally there are those people who are just SWITPOP'd - those are the ones who are Safety Wired In the P O'd Postition. I hope this has shed some light on the subject.

Thanks Tbran for that eloquent discourse.I guess I ask for it.As far as it goes though, around here we often say things are "going down hill" when things are deteriorating.I'm in central Illinois and I know for a fact that it is downhill all the way from here to the tip of Florida -ergo- things are "going south" when they are "going down hill".This in no way is meant as a reflection on those who live south of me.Most of us live south of somebody.Kinda makes you wonder how so many of our expressions got their beginning.

Yeah, and I forgot the religoius aspect. You know HOlY... I wonder where and when fecal material became holy. I have heard in london they had to dispose of city waste by bargeing it down the Thames. The methane produced settled in the bottom of the barge and often produced explosions from smokers. Therefore they put the stuff in crates and stenciled Ship High In Transit on the crates....thus we get the word... AlSO when the English war ships came in from long tours the sailors would head for the bars and women. When the sailors were brought up for rape charges they were charged with Forced Unlawful Carnal Knowledge thus we get the word ....a fountain of useless information...

One of my old Gliding instructors use to tell me if I ever got lost while I was flying I was to stand up in the Cockpit and take my watch off swing it about my head three time let it go and as the watch will always go West, North will be ninety degrees to the Right of the the way in which the watch went! then I would know which way I was going!!!! Thank goodness for GPS!!!!! Rolf

We are about 30 miles southeast of the point were the south and north Saskatchewan rivers joint. With a temperature of -10C now and snow on it's way, we think south is good.
