Combines Fuel tank inlet plugging 1660

Mine did the same thing. I went to a Farm and Fleet store in Il here and picked up a large tractor sediment bowl kit and put it on. In the process I removed the screen thats in the tank. Now if any gunk plugs a screen, I can quickly remove the sediment bowl screen, clean it and be on my way. I don't understand why they don't come with a sediment bowl under the fuel tank from the factory. BTW, the sediment bowl kit for a IH M would be about the same deal.

I have a 1989 Case-IH 1660 as well with the Cummins and the small tube inside the large fuel tank filler does not have any fuel going through it. I blew the line out several times with compressed air. Is this tube only for an air vent, I thought it was a return line for the diesel fuelIJ let me know please! It runs perfect, but I like things right.

My 1990 1680 has a vent next to the filler and it goes into the radiator bay. I had to blow it out once. I once had trouble starting some morinigs and you had to give the lift pump a few cranks, I changed the filter next to the engine-no better, last year changed the primary one with the drain off and it has been fine since. It always ran well and sometimes would start fine. Could some of the float have come off the tank senderIJ
