Combines full finger head verses regular grain head

I have tried a 25 ft header without the fingers and one with the fingers in a soybean field by the local JD dealer using a 9600 and we could go almost a full mile per hour faster due to the even feeding. Dealer was having lots of questions about this question and wanted all the customers to the see the difference for themselves. This was in shorter soybeans, I imagine tall soybeans there would be no difference at all.

Don't even question it spend the extra money. I just bought a new 925f and love it. Have yet to plug the feeder house. In short beans it will pay no more slugging.

Thanks guys for your input. For my size combine, an 8820, would you go to the 30 ft. or stay with the 25ft. with the full fingersIJ Thanks again. AJTIII

I used to own an 8820, in reality the seperator width is the same as 9600 and 9610 and 9750sts. In mu experience the thinner the crop mat going through the machine the easier to seperate. the 7720 fitted with larger headers loved to destroy walkers. I personally would not go any bigger than 24,25ft because of the poor design of the rear of the feeder house. We used to completley reinforce the main frame of 77s and 8820s to hold up with the header twist. make a long story short, machine will take it with sacrifice of ground speedIJ but the feeder house will suffer.

Dave, I found a 2002 930F head and I guess I need to know is it the weight of the head itself or the flexing that you get in uneven ground that causes problems for the feeder houseIJ I don't have contour master and don't have duals. If I were to go the same speed as I do with the 925 do you think I'll have troubleIJ I'm not a speed merchant when it comes to running crops. Where should I be looking to beef up if I do go to a 930IJ I need help because I'm about ready to close a deal this coming week. Thanks for your knowledge.
