Thanks for the info. Have you run an air reel beforeIJ Do you think the full finger auger is a replacement for an air reelIJ Or, would they compliment each otherIJ Thanks again. gerf123
I'm running a Crary Air Reel on a 30Ft 800 and I don't think a fullfingered auger will work in double cropped short soybeans as well, but in standing beans the JD full fingered was probably working as good as mine.
I would really think that a full finger auger would help along with the air reel. Still have some slugging problems even with the air reel. Is there a kit for converting the auger or did you come up with it your self. What do you think the approximate cost was, sounds like something people would want to do.Thanks
I'm kind of cheap, so I have been wondering if a guy could take some rubber spreader paddles that were used on the N's, and bolt them on the irons that reenforce the back side of the auger flighting. If they just stuck out past the flighting to slap at the beans, it might be all that is needed. What do you thinkIJ It would be tough to beet your full fingered I'm sure.
There is no kit for the conversion. We did all of the engineering ourselves. The only parts we had to custom make were the shafts and bearing supports. We made the bearing supports ourselves and had the shafts done by a machine shop. Everything else was bought from our AGCO dealer. We used the same parts that are used for the fingers in the middle of the auger for the rest of the auger. We figure we have a little over $2000 invested.
