On 2006 1020's the full finger feature is an option, factory installed, I think is about $1500. You can retro fit older heads soon with a new full finger auger, but is very expensive. You think a 1020 needs that featureIJ They feed really well as it is.

I'm pleased with my 1996 1020, it feeds and cuts way better than the Gleaner 320 it replaced, but under tough conditions I could see the full finger auger feeding better. Someone in a previous post said it fed so even he didn't even have a pile of beans on top of the feeder house after running all day. I'd like to see one in action. I know the JD guys have good reviews on theirs too.

I got a new full fingered 1020 last summer. CIH only have them for 25'and 30' the way I understood it. They are an option. I cut 800 acres without using the reverser once. I liked how they never bunched on the ends of the head and especially never bunching when cutting green material like along fences, waterways etc. Also I can run the reel higher which helps with shatter and wraping on the reel.

Reitzel Brother's (419-272-2680) makes s poor man's full fingered auger add-on. They are plastic triangular pieces called "Grain Grabbers" that you drill two holes in the auger and self-tapping screws fasten the grain grabber to the auger. I think they are around $25 apiece and you put on around 10 for a 25' head. So somewhere around $250 for a 25' head. By the way, I got along good with your rock trap. I had to change the sprockets and slow it down as I kept breaking chains and slipping the feeder house clutch. After that it worked great and prevented a planter gauge wheel from damaging the combine's "innards".
