One other thing that may be worth mentioning is that the air now goes through both sieves at a more uniform angle, front to rear, and at a flatter angle. I would think that this would help carry the chaff out the back of the machine better and maybe let us eliminate the chaff spreader. The alternative to this device is to adjust the front of the chaffer nearly closed to compensate for the high velocity air jet and force more air out the rear of the chaffer. This is quite a compromise, since you still have the jet going thorough the lower seive and keeping it from allowing proper separation. I've not seen a lower seive that has multiple adjustments. It is also very difficult to get the air back to the rear of the chaffer by just making the basic adjustments. A bandaid approch at best. I've resisted endorsing this unit on this forum until I get some time in the field with it. However, with the experimenting I've done, I can say that I'm truely impressed with it. With and without the chaffer installed, at various sieve settings, and at various fan speeds in the useable range, the improvement was remarkable.

Can you tell me what is different in the 78-79 machines...my 1460 is a 79....if your baffle is installed is there still an advantage to the new style fans and where do you stand on the modifications on the ends of the older fans..
