Greg, You can use Muratic Acid to clean the tank. I had the same problem and I used the acid and the tank looked like new metal inside and had no more rust. But you must rinse the acid with water really good to get it all out and then pour in some Baking soda to kill the acid,,,,,,,(MURATIC ACID) is the kind to get. You can get it at the Ace hardware store and it is cheap $3.00 to $4.00 per gallon and i would use the whole gallon. But remember you must rinse well and use baking soda to kill the acid residue,,,, wont hurt to use a little automatic transmission fluid every 2 or 3 tank fulls of gas to help control it afterwards. You will have to remove the tank from the machine , and really slosh it around ,,,,,,,,,,,DONT lET IT SET IN THE TANK OVER 4 TO 5 MINS.! By the way I live about 20 miles south of Dothan Alabama in the first town in Florida across the line ! good luck
