Glad it worked out well for you. Did you have to realign the gearbox to the rotorIJ That part in the service manual looks complicated. Tom in MN

I did'nt look at dealers service book to hard but here's what we did.We aligned rotor by holding it up and then turned gearbox till splines engaged. Then bolted her up and headed for some crop. Its been running real good ,smooth as Coupling bolts to rotor one way its either on there or not.Gear box slips in to coupling or rotor into gearbox which ever your working on. Gearbox bolts to frame and it to is either on there or not ,no adjustments there on my machine. Think they are on about it being aligned so it slips together easy. Thats were the MIl like tbran's comes in handy holding the rotor up with a crow bar so one can slip the gearbox into it. Thats all we did cant remember mechanic saying anything otherwise other than turn it a bit so she slips in. Well i dont know Tom but i'd be pulling her off in the off season and be having a look and feel in there and for a couple hundred American dollars put new bearings and seals in it and get the end play right all put back together with some of that synthectic gearoil, that would be some good piece of mind. Wish i'd have done it during winter cause it was a expensive pain at harvest even though it was easy to get off still took time to get bits organised and assemble. 2nd hand ones here $4000.00. if you can get one. No one seems to know anything about new one's for N series here in oz They told me here that the newer ones R's gearboxs are $11000.00 aus Make sure the one you got is in good order cause mine basically exploded I should have had it serviced but it did look hard to deal with up there so out of sight out of mind other than oil changes. When pulling rotor out slide some sheet metal along bottom so rasp bars slide easy on it compared to cage and concave. A trick they were telling me about the other day at the dealers .Did'nt have to use it the other day thankfully. Hopefully that enlightens you some . later Peng. ps. Does'nt Rolf hold the record for rotor removal and install. 45 minutes or something. bye .

G'Day Pengs5 Yer Ok Might have Pushed it a bit with 45 min to get rotor out but it wouldn't be far off with all tin work done and everything else organized!!!!! You certainly have me checking out my Gear box on my 62!!! We had our Box out on our N7 a few years back and we found it very heavy to!! we made up a gearbox plate that I think you could get from Neils I thinkIJ this helps in making the gearbox wall nice on strong. There was a idea at one of the Clinics I went to that had the gearbox repair man put a small groove in the gear change selector shaft, this helped in stopping the welsh plug from popping out if you changed gears to quickly, the groove help let oil back passed the bush that the selector shaft slides in, this in turn stops oil pushing that welsh plug out. Pengs5 How's it looking in your part of the worldIJ We had nibble yesterday in some wheat It's still has to many green ones yet!!! It will be a a real toss up whether we start the wheat or the lentils some time in the next week!!!!! Wheat should go close to a 3t_Ha and lentils Who Knows!!!! Still can't figure out estiments on them yet!!!! PS: Has anybody tried the 3 inch PVC pipe a long the front in WheatIJ Might have ago at it as we have some frosted stuff and I reckon it would help feeding the frosted wheat better as they don't have any Head Weight!!! Any ThoughtsIJ Rolf

Tom might have been referring to using a laser to align the gearbox with the stop sign. Your dealer should have the goods to do it with. Older machines that have been tearing up equipment are likely to be off. You end up shimming the gearbox between it and the wall.

Pengs5, thanks for the in-depth explanation. like you, I have been putting off checking the guts of the gearbox because it looks like a big job. Do you think Rolf has a slow clockIJ It takes us 45 minutes just to get tools lined up and have a rest break before getting into big jobs like pulling the cylinder. We used a tractor loader but now have a forklift with side shift for next time. Yes, Kelly, I was referring to aligning the gearbox when the cylinder is out. Tom in MN

HI ROlF I have the re-inforced plate in. Mechanic here knew about selector welsh plug thingy. Finished canola mine went .7 tonnes to acre mr frosty had alot to do with that .The amount of stuff we put through to get that was frustrating . So disapointed with that although at least the price was good. Started wheat this evening its only just ready here later ones are still coming along although not far off so will probaly follow right on. Wheat here i'd say will probaly average 4,4 1_2 ton_ha hopefully some 5t_ha will all depend on mr frosty and his walk of ruin. I was pleased with what i did this evening 80 tonnes (truck and three field bins in 5 hours ) Think a bit of frost cause the straw is really pulverising but did'nt seem real dustyIJ Sample looked ok will see what happens at the silo in the morning . Well at least the price is ok. I'd say the 3"pipe thingy would probaly help trip em in and under the table auger is that how its spose to workIJ Are lentils better than canola in every wayIJ Oh Dont forget about some of that mobil synthetic gear oil for your rotor gear box its real good in high heat stuff hangs on longer than mineral stuff stays slippery. easy to do for a bit of piece of mind.you probaly already do it that way any way . Do you use a chaser binIJ Do you switch separator off every time you unloadIJ I get out and have a look around every second unload when getting in to it. Been leaving separator on when unloading mostly. Use chaser bin when ever i can. What do you think about a hydraulicly driven rotor like on them WHITE combines now MASSEYIJ Why isn't the rotor gear box down low and just the pulley up on the rotor .Vice a versa IJ that'd make it real easy .What sort of child hoods did these "engineers" haveIJ These and many more Questions Good night Rolf.

Hi Rolf, --PS: Has anybody tried the 3 inch PVC pipe a long the front in WheatIJ I installed a 2.5 in. suction hose on my 330 head (front) Wheat, flax and desi chickpea fed fine. I installed mainly for rock protection and I'm sure it worked as no rocks this year. later.........Cam
