I have a 78' 1480 and I noticed my Pto housing showing signs of a slight leak too!. I too took the whole darn thing off a few years ago and replaced the seal and pilot bushing in the back of the crank. It was good till now. Its not leaking much at all but any type of leakage of anything shows up right away collecting dust. My oil pressure gauge really drops off too when its warm. I replaced the sending unit and that helped. I just figured something was screwy with the gauge. If your concerned I would hook up a manual gauge to the engine when its good and hot and see for sure what the actual pressure is. Mine has a lot more hrs on it but it doesn't really use much for oil. It drops down a 1_4" on the stick then stays there it seems.
