Have you ever considered checking out the competionIJIJIJIJ When Deere starts losing customers maybe they won't be so arrogant.

have you ever considered the other "white meat". cat was the first to come out with the row crop tractor and in my opinion still have the best to offer the farmer. my track life has been around 5000 hours in row crop situations. with a lot more selections of belt widths. the udercarraige is also built to a heavier standard than deere's. my machine came out with a 5yr_5000hr warranty that covers the powertrain completely, parts and labor. my last deere powertrain warranty only covered the internal parts of the engine. you do pay a little more for the cat name, but i am truely convinced you get more bang for your buck. between the low interest financing i am using and the duriablity of their machine, cat was the better buy. remember imitation is the truest form of flattery. deere and co have "copied" most all of their technology for their row crop tractors. the few things they didnt borrow make a big difference in how these two tractors perform and last. all updates are done free of charge to me and at my convience. so far the service has been above what i expected. one of the biggest reasons for my switch to cat was just what you hit upon. i was tired of being told what was going to happen and being expected to go along with it. it was almost as if the dealership thought i should be thankful that they were going to do business with me. competition it the only way to make them stand up and take notice. just look what they did last year with the combine market, if you were driving a binder you got a better deal than if you had been a loyal deere customer for 30 years. heck of a way to pay you back for your loyalty and business.

I agree with you 100%. We're running Deere since 1987 and trade most every year. But sometimes we have to beg to get traded. This year we seriously considered changing colors for that very reason. But we had to find out the competition is not any smarter, red or yellow. Most competitors have good equipment on the market but if they don't get any smarter, Deere is going to stay n1.

Would love to hear which Cat dealer has surpassed your expectations. Kind of like insurance, which agent or dealer you have makes all the difference!

nebraska machinery company is who i deal with. i agree the individual dealer does make a world of difference. know a few farmers in kansas that really like their cat equipment, but the dealer that services them hasnt made the commitment to the ag side of the world. makes it pretty tough to justify the higher price if you have to put up with that.

I'm not so sure Deere is still n1. The only thing keeping the company afloat today is the insurance division. It's like this. IH didn't disappear because of a lesser product. It was the execs getting fat off of the profits when times were good. They put little back into the company for when times weren't so good. They (IH) were n1 until the early 60's, and the arrogance caught up with them in the late 70's. Deere faces the same thing today, especially by trying to "buy" market share with their stuff when they know there is some real competition out there with great products. On a global scale the CNH thing beats Deere to pieces. At least lately when you look at the gross sales and the net profit of the 2 companies. Then look at it from a units sold standpoint, and it is getting real close. Also the resale value of red stuff is much better now than ever before. Heck, this is true of even some of the last IH stuff!! For all you 8000T folks, take a good look at Quadtrac. Now with 2 totally redesigned models to choose from, they are worth a serious look. They ride much better too. No, I don't work for CIH. My blood is red, and everything I ever had from that company was_is A+. That goes for products, parts, and service. And for the love of the land, would some of you learn how to use a keyboardIJ There are 2 shift keys on the thing for a reason! Good day.

If you love your red so much then stay on the site they made for you ! Oh by the way when are the red boys goin too start putting the BIG BlUE OVAlS on their RED stuff ! Since FORD has bought them too ! DEERE must be doing something right because they've been n one for a long time ! And the last time i checked they were still none in total sales world wide ! And that comes from someone who has driven them all!like why does DEERE put all the grease fittings on their no-till drills ! So they last longer ! Around here everybody is trading for them !Just like the combines ! So DEERE is doing something right !Heck around here 4020's still out sell the red ones ! lol

I think your numbers are a little skewed. Per Business Week, in the most recent issue, Deere's sales year were $13.1 billion, CNH is $9.6 billion. CNH is now in a dead heat with AGCO for second place. Consider that before the merger, NH and CIH combined for $12.1 billion so that calculates to about a 20% loss in sales. So how do you figure that the new company is betterIJ Add to that an anticipated loss of over $330 million for this year and it dowsn't look to improve. The author of the article said that they are at least 2 to 3 years froim turning a profit and all the while losing market share to Deere and AGCO.
