The hydro leak is probably the seal between the hydro motor and the transmissionIJ The $300.00 probably includes the labor to repair this. We have an F2 that does the same thing. It leaks running and sitting. However, it leaks about 2.5 gallons in a week. The raddle chains will cost about $350.00 for the long raddle and about $250.00 for the short raddle. While you are at it replace the raddle chain idlers also. These chains are available from Shoup as well as others.I have used the ones from Shoup and are well pleased with them. What heads are with itIJ My guess as to price would be in the $8,000-10,000 range. I could be way off on this price without looking at the combine. The things you have mentioned that need repair before going to the field need to be fixed. Keep an eye on the hydro and you can probably run it. But a long or short raddle that gives problems will cause you to say things that will embarrass you later. Sorry for the long post. Hope this helps. Eddy

The hydro leak could be just the seal on the control servo shaft. Very inexpensive and easy to fix. This shaft is the one the control cable hooks to. Might want check it out-might not be a big thing at all. A hint-when you change the seal, be sure and put a new gasket under the seal housing-voice of experience.

The decision is yours but I would be very skeptical of a machine that came from a guy who wouldnt spend $300 to fix a hydro. What other maintenance did he skimp onIJ Or is the $300 going to be closer to $3,000IJ

Got a tour of the machine yesterday. Here's what I found out. These guys bought it new in 82. 2032 hrs on seperator,3138 hrs on engine. 649T engine. 630A black head and 13 ft. flex bean head. looks as good as it can for the age and hours. I think they showed me every dent or scratch the thing ever got on it. He showed me every little thing that he thinks should be replaced. Some of this stuff was purely astetics. The major things are the raddle chains, the cylinder bars(next season or two),and the leak in the hydro. They are in constant contact with the dealer about how to maintain this machine. If the dealer says replace, they replace. These guys are big on preventative maintaince. They offered to pay for half of the repair costs of the unit if I were to buy it.

If the cylinder bars are near replacement, the concave may be to.I think the last one I bought was 500-550.It was a Sunnybrook, and I alo used Sunny brook wide spaced bars.

Sounds like it has been taken care of. What is the reason for sellingIJ If you buy you might want to find a 15 or 16' flex head. That 13'head might be a bit small. I have a M2 with a 16' Series 2 head. However, I cut a lot of wheat and beans with a M and a 13'. Nobody could keep up with it in the field. Knowing the history of the combine is worth something. Also sounds like they have made you a good deal on the needed repairs. All thats left now is to say "YESIJ" Eddy
