M-2 is a good machine, make sure its the long shoe version,I think 79 or 80 is when they changed. With lots of hours the engine head could be cracked, but a well maintained machine should be fine, check cylinder bars, concave and raddle chains for wear.Ran an M-2 and M-3 for 25 years, were very trouble free machines.

I have owned an M2 for about 10 years and it gives much less trouble than the F I had before and is easier to work on.

They are good combines especially in wheat i would recomend them because mechanically they operate simply and are reasonable good to work on I think that they are good machines. Good luck Brent

I agree with the comments that the M2 is easy to work on. I have been getting mine ready for the last 2 days to shell corn. Everything is where you can get to it to repair it. A M2 is a 6 row machine yet is still small enough to run a 4 row corn head. There are lots of after-market parts available and the salvage yards are usually full of M's and M2's. If it is a hydrostat that makes it even better. One thing you can do to make it "eat" is to install Trimpe cylinder bars. If you buy it, any thing you want to know or any question that you can think up about the M2 can be answered here on this site. Good luck, Eddy

We had to get rid of ours, the thing kept bumping us into the next higher tax bracket. look for a 1980 or newer as some major changes were made in that year. The hydraulic idler, behind the tank was a high wear item and about the only thing semi hard to get to. Blue Mt Ag has an update for that item. 208 746 6447.
