Combines gleaner custom harvesters

Don't know of any website or any recent info, but my son worked with their parts_service express caravan about 7 or 8 years ago. They started in the wheat harvest in Texas and went all the way to Canada augmenting the local dealers for the custom harvesters. Then he worked for a couple of years as a combine test engineer at Coldwater Ohio before coming home to farm. We ran Gleaners since 1965 until last year when we went caseih.

Why did you go caseih, what size did you go. What did you not like about the gleaners. Colin

Over half of the custom cutters that came up through here used to run gleaners. But the N series took care of that. It wasn't until last year that I saw a custom cutter with some gleaners for the first time in 20 years.

We went to a 04 caseih2388 with the new style rotor because we had little things go wrong and had down time, also we raise about 1_3 beans and could never get the capacity in beans out of the gleaner. We tried r 62s and r 72s. We were happy in wheat and corn. But this new rotor is awesome in corn and beans. I never thought anything would touch the gleaner in corn, but this thing out does it. We put about 400 engine 325 seperator hrs ayear on our gleaners and we put the same on the 2388 but we done about 3200 acres with the 2388 vs 2500 acres with the gleaners. We added 700 acres of custom work last year for a friend.

That's a sad story!!! What limited your GleanersIJ Power or what. Did you ever get to run the combines togeter in same field with same cut width. Did you ever do anything with third helical extention or all forward extended bars ect.IJ Stay in touch for there are some things happening with the Gleaner cylinder that sound very exciting. If they only would of put the channel helicals in them old N's they would probably still have over half the market. I think you get in the right areas along the custom run and you'ld see plenty Gleaners these days again. Take care.

Boy there is something weard going on hear. You don't see all the posts unless you click on each and every one as you go.

We ran the extended bar and tried lots of other things for green stem beans as an oldman has forgotten. We wer on a yearly roll on combines. We ran a couple of R 72s but our dealer got so he couldn't move them as well as R 62s, so we went back to the R62 with the electronic pump and couldn't tell a lot of difference between the 72s and 62s, We dumpa lot of corn on the go and the older 62s had to be backed off when unloading, but the 72s and the electronic 62s would hang in there. last year the 2388 would run 6.5-7.5 mph in 200 bu corn with 8X30. and it out cut side by side a jd 9660 with their new 30' head in soybeans and done a less ragged job. We had a neighboring farmer with a cih 8010 with a 12X30ch that was running 7-8mph 185-200 bpa had a one day harvest of 35000 bu. Now he had a lot of down time. but if they get that worked out it is awesome. As another neigbor with a 9650 said about our gleaners was you don't even want to be across the road from us let alone in the same corn field. So I think cih has raised the bar. When we went to the new header from gleaner that fed really even we just ran out of power cutting beans. Cat brought a 475 and ran about 1mph faster side by side
