Combines Gleaner l4

l4 is the same as an l3 but is powered by a Cummins from what I was told by a Gleaner rep. in Independence several years ago and they were produced south of the border. l3 was the last US production. I was told this on a factory tour in about 1990.

there were only about 4 built and NOT by AC. Most parts interchange. A man by the name of Dayrl Swenson built them in the old Mexico plant. Grain machine but at least one had AHC added. Rare find. Don't know value though . To many variables.

There is an l4 for sale at Robl Farm Supply (NH dealer) in Ellsworth, KS. Or at least it was about a month ago. Didn't look too bad yet.

I didnt know that gleaner had ever made an l4, I guess i have never seen one. if you get a picture of one please send it to me too. Thanks Brent

They were made in mexico. I think they were bought by a private company. They were being built when duetz cancelled the l3. They were only built for 0ne _two yrs I might be wrong on that. There was one about six miles from were i live. the guy has scince traded it off for a class chopper, he went bigger into cattle then grain.

Yes, the l4 was made in Mexico for just a couple of years. I saw a new one once. At the time it was priced around $20,000 under other American made combines. If I'm not mistaken it had a Cummins engine in it. Not a lot of frills but a good solid machine. I thought the idea would have caught on but unfortunately it did not.

That is really neat stuff! What else did the Mexican AC manufactureIJ Tractors, other combines etcIJ Would sure like one of those l4's! Can't be too many around though.

Their was a few l4's for sale in Alberta last year. The guy was asking around $80,000.00 for the machine with 500 engine hour's. If they were still made I would have bought one this year to replace my aging fleet of l2's and l3's, so I had to go to a different brand of combine to replace them. If all you guy's think the l's are such good combine's maybe we should e-mail the manufacture and tell them that if they would make it for a good price we would all buy them to replace our old l2's and l3's.
