I owned a 2500, except for the graphics same as R-52. White needed smaller size combines than the 8900 they were building and Allis needed a better undercarigge(sp) for their tractors. White tractor's rear ends were bullet-proof so they traded.
I have one sitting in my shed. It's a 2600 but its the same combine as the R62. Only difference was that in 92 the R62 had the deutz engine and the 2600 had the Cummins.
Thanks, mo farm, the one thing I neglected about the difference between the White and Gleaner, is the engine, the White installed Cummins engines in theirs, and in my opinion was a plus.
I think another reason you don't see very many with White on the side is because some of them were redecalled as Gleaner. I thought I'd leave mine a White, who knows it might be a collectors item some day. And its fun to see the look on peoples faces when you tell them you have a White 2600 combine.
I agree, mo-farm, I had a 2500, I liked the decals and graphics. Hey, maybe someday you'll be able to get back what you payed for it! You know, like my GTO!lOl!
