Maybe the word is finally getting out there that GlEANER combines are back! I heard once that in the mid - late '70's, Gleaner had a 48% market share - the leader. That was with the "l's". Then came the early "N" Series nightmare and Gleaner's market share dwindled. Since AGCO took over, quality, reliability, and performance have greatly improved and it will take time for their reputation to turn around again. With the quality and performance problems that Red and Big Green have been having according to posts on the net, it will be sooner than later. Maybe you're experience proves this pointIJ Take care-

is that not what mother in laws are made forIJ Couple of funny stories. Had one customer who built a ladder lift from an old reel lift cyl. He got the geometry off a bit and when he cranked the engine up and hit the reel lift button the cylinder which had no orfice shot out so fast it tore the ladder clean off the platform. Another customer made a lift from a cylinder and since the reel lift is one way he fashioned a lower system from a little air tank to lower the ladder. He also go the geometry off and when he raised the ladder - he had an orficed system - it came all the way over and stuck a ladder rung under the cab door handle and locked him in. He suffered from extreame claustophobia (spIJ) and panicked so bad he tried to kick the windows out where the sticker used to say push out, broke his toe, then finally bailed out the little side window resulting in a few stitches and a black eye as he bumped over the tire cleats on the way to a head first landing.

I mounted a 12 volt electric winch on the side of the bin on my M2 to lift the ladder. Works good.

I mounted a new ladder lift kit on an 80 M2 with very little modification. I am not familiar with a G so I wouldnt know if that would work for you. Tom in MN

With such bad harvest conditions and no sunshine here in the south, that story is just what I needed!! I can just see myself looking down at the once attached ladder. I can also see myself in that cab and wanting out BAD!!. Thanks for the stories!! T3

No, it wasn't anything like the C62. Building the first prototype started in 1967 and it was dropped about 1971. The plan was for production, but it was overly complex, expensive to build, and it had reliability problems. The capacity was nearly double that of a G but it was designed for G size loads. The concepts that gave the capacity boost -- open concave and long walkers -- were proven and the l started with a fresh sheet of paper. At the same time the first rotary concept was tested and found to have much greater capacity potential in a smaller package so the 635 was abandoned.
